Creating a Log/Log Chart
Excel is groovy at automatically creating a wide variety of charts, lickety separate. For some types of data, you may want to create a chart that is not readily apparent. Such is the example with a log/log chart.
The reply to this conundrum is to change which blazon of chart you use for your data. It seems that Excel will not allow the Ten axis to use a logarithmic calibration for many types of charts. To specify a chart where y'all tin can apply logarithmic scales on both axes, follow these steps:
- Select the chart area.
- Make sure the Chart Design (Design in earlier versions of Excel) tab of the ribbon is visible. (This tab is only bachelor if you lot select the nautical chart area, as instructed in stride 1.)
- Click the Change Chart Type tool in the Type grouping. Excel displays a palette of bachelor nautical chart types.
- Select the XY (scatter) type of chart.
- Select the sub-chart blazon you want to use.
- Click on the OK button.
If, for some foreign reason, values forth the X axis are still non represented in logarithmic scale, you can click on the Ten centrality, choose to format information technology, and then specify a logarithmic scale.
You should note that this solution will piece of work for many types of charts, but won't work for charts where you lot need to plot zero or negative values. (Those values don't have a LOG value.)
And so why do you need to use a scatter nautical chart for log/log data? Considering it is the merely type of chart that allows numeric values along the X axis. Other chart types utilize the X centrality for categories of information, not numeric values.
